No matter how many times President Obama tries to reassure Bubba America that all he’s proposing is a public insurance OPTION in his health care reform plan, the hard right insists on believing the lie that the government is taking over U.S. health care.
Now, I can believe that Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and the other right wing yay-hoos are perpetuating this myth, but what’s so disheartening is how many Republican politicians are also telling their constituents this out-and-out lie.
If you’re a conservative and you don’t like the president’s health care reform bill, fine. But don’t make shit up about it.
This includes you, Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins from my beautiful home state of Kansas. I swear, the more I learn about this woman, the more Sarah Palin-ish she seems. She’s got a big ol’ mouthful of white teeth that she lies through as often as she bleaches them.
She gives me the hoo-haws.
Check out this excerpt from Lynn’s web site:
I believe that nothing should come between the patient-doctor relationship – not distant government bureaucrats or politicians in Washington. When your child needs medicine, it should be made available. When an x-ray is needed or a prescription needs filled, Kansans cannot afford to wait weeks or months, which is common in countries like Canada and England. All Americans should be able to choose their coverage and get the health care they need, when they need it.
Way to fear-monger, Lynn! Again, this is completely inaccurate. It implies that the government is taking over all healthcare, all insurance, all doctors and all hospitals. Horse patooty.
And I love this language: “…a prescription needs filled…” A prescription needs filled? How very folksy and non-elitish and Sarah Palin-ish of you, Lynnsy.
I'm not sure which is worse: her deliberate attempts to scare stupid people, or the idea that maybe she actually believes her own lies, which would make her ... one of the stupid people.
Quit embarrassing my home state, white trash.
